20 Facts

April 10, 2015

I’ve been tagged on Instagram by a few lovely ladies to share 20 facts.  I think they’re supposed to be facts about me.  That’s a lot of facts.

I’ve tried three times now to upload my facts, so here they are:

  1. I am my dad’s middle daughter and my mum’s eldest daughter.  I am also their favourite daughter.
  2. I am an accountant, but I’ve worked as an event manager.  If both jobs paid the same, I’d choose event manager over accountant.
  3. The guy I thought I would live happily ever after with, on a kiwifruit orchard (with an amazing avo tree), in the sunny Bay of Plenty, committed suicide in 2011.
  4. The following year I travelled around the world on my own.  Kinda like a journey of self discovery.  I discovered about 7kg of extra junk in my trunk.
  5. When I met boyf I was a commitment phobe with a coupla cats, and he was a commitment phobe with a coupla kids.
  6. Before I met boyf I didn’t want to get married, or have kids.  Now I can’t wait to get blinged up and knocked up (with identical twin boys).
  7. When I was a toddler, all I wanted was a baby sister.  When I got one, all I wanted was to put her back.  Now I can’t imagine life without her.
  8. I lived on the Gold Coast for four years.  I still get homesick for the Sunshine State – especially in a Waikato winter.
  9. When I was 26 I gave up gluten (mostly), and the contraceptive pill (completely), and it was the best thing I did for my wellness.
  10. If I could be more like anyone, I would be more like my mum.  (“More Debs (mum), less Mike (dad)” is the advice my sister often gives me).
  11. If I had the time, the space and the funds, I would have a little farm and fill it with rescue animals.
  12. I didn’t work very hard at school.  And I didn’t work very hard at uni either.
  13. Balsamic vinegar and caramelised onion chips are my ultimate weakness.  Along with blue cheese and beetroot relish.
  14. I often greet cats and dogs in the street.  And I don’t know I’m doing it.
  15. I get chronic motion sickness.  No, I didn’t grow out of it.  Yes, even when I drive.
  16. I have selective OCT.  Some things I’m completely obsessive about, other things not at all.
  17. On our first date, I told boyf that the Tui flying across the path in front of him was his dad trying to say hello.  I think boyf wanted to run for his life.
  18. The steepest learning curves for me have been: opening (and closing) an online clothing store, and; being a step mum.
  19. I was raised on old school rock, and I’d listen to that over synthetic pop music any day.
  20. If I could go back and do it all again, I would learn to let go of the things not meant for me.
